What are restaurants if not performance spaces? This was a question Kyle Beechey often wondered. With a background in film and theatre, she fell into food writing by accident, but couldn’t help see the parallels between a dining room and the stage. She decided it was time to bring her two worlds together with The Restaurant Diaries. 

They are a series of one-act comedies where the guest is a fly on the wall for the evening. Admit it, we’ve all eavesdropped on the couple at the booth next to us or the solo diner at the bar on an unacceptable work call, now she’s created a front row seat for you and full permission. 

Join us for our inaugural show, Four Top, where two couples find themselves on a blind date with wildly different expectations. 

Since the theatre time tends to be dinner time, we’ve partnered with our friends at Casino who will be providing the space as well as the cocktails and Elbow Bread who will be covering the food. Our idea is to bring an air of conviviality to watching performance. Come before, have a drink and a snack and stay after and have more. Theatre doesn’t have to be serious and we don’t need to be hungry when watching it.
